When I became a motion designer, my interest was to capture and crystalize the beauty of invisible ideas into form. Learning music when I was young helped fill my imagination with possibilities. Recently, translating the beauty of an invisible idea took on a whole new meaning in motion design. I realized that inspiration can come from things that are not simply visible, but can be felt as well: the fragile chords of a piano, the energy of improvisation from a jazz musician, a sentence from a poem or the quiet atmosphere of a museum. From grandeur concepts of a film to complex strategies of a brand, I believe that what makes things unique and interesting is not what we can easily see or understand, but what we perceive in deeper levels. Impermanence is the idea to accept the ephemeral of time and nature, to accept the impermanence of life. The sequence follows a power ten transition from a girl’s memory of motherly love to the physical reality of narcissistic artificial love that we now often experience through social media likes. To visualize this, we created a sequence that illustrates how our mind is gradually being distorted through the addiction to technology. Individual Project Credits: Ming Tai (Instructor) Background: I first realized that the nature of a crystal aligns with Nina’s journey, where they both try to grow through logic but become more beautiful through the imperfections created by their environment. Since Nina abandoned her ideals through self-destruction, I decided to let the crystal destroy a glass ballerina shell, representing the perfect swan she was dreaming of becoming one day. Software:Cinema 4D Redshift Photoshop Lightroom Photography&nbsp; The crystals were photographed with a macro lens, capturing the imperfections and details of the surface. The second and third frame captures the moment and result of the division of the blastocyst replaced with cylinders of a revolver. The cylinder splits enough to create the veins in the fourth frame, made out of barbed wire. The veins become an umbilical cord covered with skin made of cloth, inspired by the holy shroud of Jesus.
